David Ward
Chief Trainer

The reWard Advocates CEO is David W. Ward.  David has 20 years recent experience in Insurance Loss Control, and was a firefighter and officer in public fire protection for 17 years previous to that.


David holds the esteemed Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University, as well as Associates Degrees in both Fire Protection and Fire Investigation Technology. He has been a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) since 2001. He was elected to the CFPS Board of Directors in 2009, and served as the Chairman of the CFPS Board for 2-1/2 years ending in 2016.


Some of David’s primary topics of expertise are sprinkler protection & water supplies, life safety, electrical safety, commercial cooking protection, and industrial gases.  David’s training experience began in the fire service, teaching both in-service subjects for firefighters, and teaching fire safety & CPR classes to the public.  He has had a knack for teaching & training, and has always sought ways to pass along his knowledge to others. This preparatory course is a further extension of his motivation to share knowledge and empower others to succeed in our profession.


David is married to his lovely bride Marci, is a proud “GranPop,” and is known as “Daddy” by Boxer Bailey and Havanese Cooper.

Michael W. Rader
Associate Trainer

Mr. Rader has over 25-years experience in various roles in the field of fire protection.  He has held the position of Fire Marshal of Parkland Health & Hospital System since January 2010; and consequently is an expert in the field of Life Safety Compliance in Healthcare.  He has previously held significant roles in Fire Investigation, Code Enforcement, and Firefighter Training for several municipalities and in the US Navy. 


Michael has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Protection & Safety Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University, and holds certifications in Fire Inspection, Arson Investigation, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Medicine – in addition to the CFPS credential.


Michael is married to his lovely wife Jennifer. They have 4 children, 3 grandchildren, and reside in Roanoke, Texas.

Mark Hasenmyer


Associate Trainer


Mr. Hasenmyer has 23-years of experience in the fire protection and loss control industry.  He is currently employed for his firm MEH Fire Protection Engineering LLC.


Mr. Hasenmyer holds a degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Oklahoma and Texas.  He has also been a fire protection instructor at the Construction Education Foundation in Dallas, TX.


His experience in fire protection includes positions as systems designer, instructor, volunteer firefighter, inspector, consultant and loss control representative.  These specific positions allowed Mr. Hasenmyer to work on projects such as high-piled storage protection, special hazards systems at a chemical manufacturing refinery, high-rise buildings, aircraft hangars and college theaters.  He has also served as a third-party consulting firm to provide fire protection plan review for several municipalities.
